In this period of intense New Year’s resolutions development and goal setting, I’d like to share with you a book I recently discovered that’s totally different from the advice I see most everywhere, in part because it is so time INsensitive. This Time I Dance! Trusting the Journey of Creating the Work You Love by Tama J. Kieves (c 2002) is unlike any other book I’ve read on discovering your life’s work because it recognizes how long the process can take.

Of course I have monetary goals for my business in marketing coaching and information. But I have other goals as well. One is to help self-employed service providers develop their businesses (and achieve their income goals). Another is “to be heard,” a yearning that is more difficult to pin down.

We are what we read. So maybe I should read better stuff?

I’ve been thinking I should upgrade what I’m feeding my brain. That while I continue to gain new facts, my current info diet is more akin to mushrooms that have been breaded and deep fried than to raw broccoli. Specifically, I think my reading menu should be broader and more substantive, especially in the areas of history, the arts and even literary fiction.
